Kick-off for new exhibition

Prime Minister Erna Solberg and Secretary-General of the United Nations António Guterres kicked off Nobel Peace Center’s new exhibition about UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

Norwegian Prime Minister Solberg and UN Secretary-General Guterres tried hitting the goal, when they opened the Peace Center’s new exhibition about the SDG’s Tuesday. Neither of them hit the goal yesterday, but are both aware that reaching the global goals will take both time and effort from the global community.

I trust the world to be better at reaching the sustainable development goals, than I am at playing soccer ball, the UN Secretary-General said to the crowd of journalists.

The Sustainable Development Goals, adopted by world leaders at the UN in 2015, is a 17-point action plan for a better world, and apply to all countries.

-We are pleased to present the SDG’s here at the Nobel Peace Center. They are crucial to achieve peace, and they shed light on the urgency to work long-term in order to prevent conflict, Director Liv Tørres said at the opening.

The exhibition Take the Ball – Hit the Goals will be on display in the entrance hall of the Nobel Peace Center from June 19th until August 20th, and is free of charge. The SDG soccer ball, signed by the Prime Minister and the Secretary-General, will be on display in the exhibition.

Visitors are invited to try and hit the same goal with a soccerball, as the prime minister and secretary-general did Tuesday. By partaking in the soccer-activity, and posting photos on their social media channels with the hashtag #TaketheBall, visitors can help the UN reach their sustainable development goals by 2030.

We hope that the approximately 100.000 guests, who are going to visit the Nobel Peace Center this summer, can be spokespersons for a better world, says Director Tørres.
