Sigma Technology Joins the Aware Entrepreneurs Community

Sigma Technology Hungary has recently joined a new, self-conscious group of proud Hungarian companies. The initiative, called Aware Entrepreneurs (Vállalható Vállalkozás), unites firms that value integrity, transparency, and conscious business behavior.

The Aware Entrepreneurs (Vállalható Vállalkozás) movement was established by Bridge Budapest, CEU Business School, and Transparency International in 2017.

Aware Entrepreneurs firmly believe that global success can originate also from Hungary and doing “clean” business plays a huge part in that. The initiative also has a website, www.vallalhatovallalkozas.hu, where Hungarian entrepreneurs can find business partners who share similar values and work according to the principles of transparency and integrity.

As a socially responsible company, Sigma Technology Hungary did not have to think twice about joining the initiative. But joining is the easy part: technically, all it takes is passing a self-evaluating awareness test created by Bridge Budapest, and score at least 80%. The real challenge is, of course, “living” those values when doing business. The community is growing quickly and attracting more and more conscious entrepreneurs in Hungary. At the time of writing, the community counts 842 members.

“It is not every day that we come across an initiative as progressive and forward-thinking as the Aware Entrepreneurs community is. It is both uplifting and encouraging to know that for hundreds of Hungarian companies (and probably tens of thousands more that haven’t registered yet), business success means playing by the rules – either legislative, taxation-related, or coming from our social responsibilities.

I very much hope that the growing member list of Aware Entrepreneurs will show to even more firms in Hungary that fair play in business pays off. It is always easy to blame bureaucracy, the tax system, or other external factors for business failure. But, at the end of the day, it all comes down to never compromising your basic principles. Doing that will earn you trust. And trust will earn you both talent and new business.

My full appreciation goes to Veronika Pistyur and her team at Bridge Budapest, for bringing like-minded Hungarian companies together on this platform, and spreading the word about what it takes to become more successful,” says György Nagy, Country Manager at Sigma Technology Hungary.
