Fusion Walk in Greenhouse

Press release -

Fusion Walk in Greenhouse

In Greenhouse, Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair's hall for independent designers and design schools, visitors will encounter fashion and design as part of a Fusion Walk, which serves as both an installation and a catwalk for fashion shows.

For the first time, furniture designers and fashion designers will come together in the exhibition's greenhouse, which aims to nurture tomorrow's designers. Stockholm Design Week and Stockholm Fashion Week are taking place in parallel in week 6. Greenhouse is therefore playing host to a number of fashion designers from the Swedish Fashion Council's Rookies project, with various shows and an installation on a specially constructed catwalk designed by Jens Fager.

"During the selection process we concentrated on catchwords that feel important within the fields of both furniture and fashion design. These include distinctive design expression, sustainability, handicrafts and detailing. With Greenhouse we want to create the unexpected, bringing tomorrow's designers together today," says Helena Mellström, Head of Marketing and PR for the Swedish Fashion Council.

The participating Rookies are:

Alice Fine (Stockholm), www.alicefine.com
Bedazzled (Stockholm/Berlin), www.bedazzledjewelry.se
Johanna Pihl (Stockholm), www.johannapihl.com
Mika Modiggård (Stockholm/Berlin), www.mikamodiggard.com
Granfors (Stockholm), www.tommygranfors.com
Voluptuous Morality (Stockholm), www.voluptuousmorality.com

Fashion show dates and times:
Tuesday, 7 February: 11.00 + 14.30
Wednesday, 8 February: 11.00 + 14.30
Friday, 10 February: 11.00 + 14.30
The 11.00 show on Tuesday is also a press viewing.

Greenhouse gives new talent the chance to show their prototypes and meet manufacturers from the furniture industry. In order to exhibit here, applicants must not be closely tied to any particular manufacturer and their products should not have been exhibited previously. Independent designers and design schools from around the world are invited to apply, and a jury panel then makes the final selection.

Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair will take place on 7-11 February 2012 at Stockholmsmässan.
