Future color and material trends on show at Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair

Future trends with their origins in Swedish design tradition will be featured in an exhibition courtesy of Materialbiblioteket at Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair on 5-9 February. The exhibition is aimed at professional architects, designers and marketers, and has been produced in association with Oversight Trends.

The exhibition, which is called “Architects’ view on: Future Scandinavian Color and Material Trends”, showcases future color and material trends viewed from a Scandinavian perspective. Future trends are concretized using color palettes and a total of thirty different kinds of material in an experience-based exhibition.

“Designers and architects live their professional lives by understanding and interpreting the future. It may take 3-5 years before a product designed today is released on to the market. So it’s important for the designer to take note of the relevant colors and material forecasting. Presenting specific information about both colors and materials in this way is completely new,” comments Oliver Schmidt, who runs Materialbiblioteket at Stockholmsmässan.

The trends presented in the exhibition are derived from many sources, including in-depth workshops with a panel consisting of Sweden’s most exciting contemporary designers, daily contact with the Swedish design and architecture elite, as well as monitoring international materials research.

“Architects and designers from all over the world visit Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair to get a comprehensive picture of Scandinavian design. This exhibition looks beyond contemporary design and provides visitors with information that’s important for Scandinavian design of the future,” concludes Oliver Schmidt.

The exhibition is in Hall B and there will be showings every day in both Swedish and English.

Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair will be held on 5-9 February 2013 at Stockholmsmässan.
