  • Contract from project developers i Live and Commerz Real with a value of around € 83 million
  • Completion scheduled for the end of April 2024

Frankfurt, 12 August 2021 Ed. Züblin AG has started with the structural works for the new Campus II student residence in Frankfurt, currently Germany’s largest micro-apartment project. After preparation of the foundation pit, ZÜBLIN is now erecting the first sections of the 1 m thick foundation slab with load distribution layer and vibro stone columns for ground improvement. The eight-storey complex in Frankfurt’s Nordend district, with a contract value of around € 83 million, will have a gross floor area of 49,500 m². ZÜBLIN had already served as engineering consultants to the client, i Live Commerz Real Campus Zwei GmbH, during the project design phase. Following completion of the building, scheduled for the end of April 2024, the new student and serviced apartment complex will offer 1,158 flats distributed across two L-shaped buildings.

Rooftop terrace with views of the Frankfurt skyline

The apartment complex with seven full storeys, one staggered storey and one basement floor is directly adjacent to the private Frankfurt School of Finance and Management and close to Goethe University Frankfurt. In addition to the partly publicly subsidised housing for students, a small number of the furnished residential units will also be rented out as serviced apartments to teaching staff or commuters who stay in the city during the workweek. The micro-apartments are equipped with sanitary facilities, kitchenette, and sleeping, sitting and studying facilities; the serviced apartments also have air conditioning.

A fitness studio will be located on the ground floor and in the basement of the building. A reception area, with public panorama restaurant, is planned for the top floor of the south building along with a large rooftop terrace and views of the Frankfurt skyline. The single-storey underground car park will offer 221 car parking spaces and 902 bicycle parking spaces with a two-tier parking system. A special feature of Campus II are the two inner courtyards. The Jungle Yard will be landscaped with lush vegetation and several recreational areas, while the Beach Yard will have a large sandy area for rest and relaxation.

The ZÜBLIN project teams from the Central and East subdivisions will use a total of 26,100 m³ of concrete and 3,600 t of steel for the construction of the new building.
