Svenskt Tenn launches a new coffee table

The Nizza coffee table, designed by architect Per Öberg, was launched three years ago. The product range has now been expanded with the Cap d´Antibes table, which is a square variant of Nizza, with the same functions and details.

“It is extremely satisfying that the Nizza table has been so appreciated and sought-after. We have also seen a need for a square coffee table and therefore Per Öberg was commissioned to develop the square as yet another variant in order to complete the product range,” says Market Manager and Creative Director Thommy Bindefeld.

Per Öberg designed the Nizza coffee table in 2018. Both the rectangular Nizza and the square Cap d’Antibes represent a further development of a table that he had designed for his private apartment in Nice, inspired by the wrought and iron furniture that are typical of the south of France. The table is designed in the form of a glass cabinet in the spirit of Estrid Ericson, with pull-out trays and glass for display. The legs, with their brass paws, enclose the glass panel in the same manner as furniture designed by Josef Frank. The table is produced with great craftsmanship at a metal workshop in Skellefteå.

“Svenskt Tenn’s archives contain thousands of Josef Frank’s sketches and drawings of products that have been, and are, in production, while there are others that have not yet seen the light of day. When we believe that there is a need for new products, we always go first of all through what is in the archives in order to find something to include in production. If we don’t find what we are looking for, we commission a contemporary designer to create a new product for Svenskt Tenn. Both Nizza and Cap d´Antibes are exactly the type of products that we believe supplement our product range in the long term, as regards both design and material,” concludes Thommy Bindefeld.

Cap d´Antibes costs SEK 41,000 kr and can be ordered online or in the store, where it is currently being shown in a furniture group together with Josef Frank’s furniture.
