SMM targets ship owners for 2018

Hamburg Messe’s President & CEO Bernd Aufderheide today called on the shipping industry to step up its support Hamburg’s biennial maritime trade fair, SMM by attending next year's Shipowners Forum.

Speaking at the opening of the 2017 TradeWinds Shipowners Forum, he urged ship owners packing the room to think of the Forum as a ‘stage, a platform to discuss your individual challenges with colleagues and experts from all over the world.’

TradeWinds Shipowners Forum is a high-level get-together and takes place in major maritime cities including Athens, Singapore, Hong Kong and New York. Referring to the cooperation between TradeWinds and SMM, Aufderheide told delegates that today marked a ‘kick off’ for a collaboration between the two organisations, saying the work together ‘will be fruitful for the evolution of both sides.’

The TradeWinds Shipowners Forum at SMM on September 4, 2018, will form part of an extensive week of activities. According to Aufderheide, SMM has become far more than just a trade fair. ‘Every two years, we offer visitors a top-level supporting programme via workshops, symposiums and seminars which focus on current important matters for the maritime sector. We highlight on aspects like alternative energy sources and green technologies (gmec), maritime security and defence (MS&D), the offshore industry (Offshore Dialogue), trends, innovation and vision for shipping and shipbuilding (Maritime Future Summit) and the recruiting of specialists (Maritime Career Market).’
