Exclusive Hearthstone tournament arranged in Stockholm

STOCKHOLM September 9, 2014 – Viagame, the digital eSports channel by Swedish media company MTG, will be arranging and broadcasting an exclusive international Hearthstone tournament this autumn, with a prize pool of 20 000 USD. 

With the success of the Viagame Hearthstone Championship at DreamHack Summer in June with more than 55 000 peak concurrent viewers, Viagame are eager to meet the Hearthstone players and community again, this time with a new tournament format.

Viagame will be arranging the Viagame House Cup in Stockholm, Sweden, this October. The House Cup will take place in a house in Stockholm, where the players will be living and competing for an entire weekend. Viagame will provide for travel, food and accommodation for all participating players.

“Hearthstone is one of the fastest growing eSports and we’re happy to have 16 of the best players duke it out here in Stockholm. Our latest tournament in June was a huge success and now it’s time to further develop competitive Hearthstone with a new competition format.” Says Simon Sundén, Content Manager at Viagame.

The qualifications for the tournament will consist of 8 invited pro players and 8 players from online qualifiers, meaning anyone could have the chance to participate. There will be two qualifiers, on 13-14 September and 20-21 September, where the top 256 players will be determined by ladder ranking and achievements. Detailed information about qualifiers, rules and showmatches will be posted during this week.

The finals are held and broadcasted on October 10-12 live in English and available globally on www.viagame.com. The finals will be different from any other Hearthstone tournament yet and will feature a new format on how you compete and play the game.

Hearthstone is one of the fastest growing games within eSport. It is a free-to-play collectible card game (CCG) and was released by Blizzard in March 2014. Hearthstone is set within the World of Warcraft universe, with its characters, locations and lore.
