    As the global population stands at nearly 8 billion and rapidly increases, it is an existential challenge to create a sustainable food system within the planetary boundaries.   • Groundwater expert, Dr John Cherry, wins 2020 Stockholm Water Prize

    Dr John Cherry receives the Stockholm Water Prize 2020. His work has raised awareness of how groundwater contamination is growing across the world and has led to new, more efficient methods to tackle the problem. Ragn-Sells, one of the founders of the award, congratulates him and are looking forward to the award ceremony which takes place on August 26 during the Water Week in Stockholm.

  • Ragn-Sells invests 50 million EUR on resource extraction from fly ash

    ​The environmental company Ragn-Sells invests 50 million EUR in a new plant for the treatment of fly ash from waste incineration using its patented technology Ash2Salt. The new method extracts potassium and other valuable substances from the ash, while large amounts of environmental toxins are removed from the material cycle. The investment is one of the largest ever in Swedish material recycling.

  • Ragn-Sells' innovation company EasyMining is awarded “Innovator of the Year”

    Ragn-Sells' innovation company EasyMining has been named “Innovator of the Year 2019” at the Recycling Gala in Stockholm. The jury was impressed with EasyMining's process for extracting nitrogen from wastewater, which in the future may play a major role in utilizing this valuable resource from this common type of waste stream.

  • Pär Larshans awarded for his thought leadership

    Trust Across America-Trust Around the World (TAA-TAW), annually honour global leaders in organisational trust with their award Top Thought Leaders in Trust. The award programme celebrates professionals who are transforming the way organisations incorporate trust as an intentional business strategy. One of the winners of this year’s award is Pär Larshans at the environmental company Ragn-Sells.

  • Yariv Cohen awarded for process extracting phosphorus from sewage sludge

    The Swedish Chemical Engineers Nat. Assn. (SKR) chemical engineering award 2019 will be awarded to Yariv Cohen, Development Manager at EasyMining. He receives the prize for his efforts to develop chemical processes for the extraction of nutrients and metals from waste. His processes can solve important problems in society and help create a working circular economy in real life, not just in theory.

  • New technology separates heavy metals from water

    The innovation company Chromafora's technology for selectively extracting heavy metals from water from landfills has for the first time been used at full scale at the environmental company Ragn-Sells's facility in Fagerliden in Robertsfors municipality. By capturing the heavy metals at the molecular level, the water is purified from pollutants.

  • Ragn-Sells puts circular economy on the climate conference agenda

    Swedish circularity company Ragn-Sells has been invited to participate at the UN Climate Change Conference COP25 in Madrid. At the conference, Ragn-Sells will highlight transition to a circular economy as key to countering climate change.

  • Ragn-Sells’ circular nitrogen removal technology secures 19 MSEK

    The Swedish environmental company Ragn-Sells, through its innovation company EasyMining, has been granted a 19 MSEK investment from the European Union’s LIFE programme for commercializing its patented method for removing nitrogen from sewage water. The circular solution enables water treatment facilities to capture nitrogen and use it as a fertilizer, thereby reducing emissions of greenhouse gas.

  • Ragn-Sells Denmark first to recycle plastic from organic waste

    Ragn-Sells-owned NC Miljø in Denmark is first to recycle plastic from organic waste. The convenience store chain Netto is the first to use the recycled plastic and thanks to the new technology can offer its customers circular bin-liners, made from the company’s own organic waste.

  • Hazardous ash becomes clean road salt and fertilizer

    The environmental company Ragn-Sells is now launching a new technique to extract pure salts from the fly ash which is produced when waste is incinerated. The global patent, Ash2Salt, enables valuable resources to be utilised, at the same time as the hazardous fly ash can be dealt with safely. The salts can be used as road salt and in fertilizer production, among other things.

  • Large investment in pilot plants for phosphorus recovery in Sweden

    The formerly announced collaboration on phosphorus recovery between the environmental company Ragn-Sells and the state owned mining company LKAB is now taking the next step. LKAB will invest SEK 45 million in the continued feasibility study and pilot facilities in Malmfälten and Uppsala, Sweden.

  • Ragn-Sells and BIOFOS enter partnership on phosphorus recovery in Denmark

    Ragn-Sells innovation company EasyMining and the Danish company BIOFOS have signed a Memorandum of understanding (MoU) for long-term cooperation on phosphorous recovery from incinerated sewage sludge. The partnership will reduce Denmark's imports of the critical raw material phosphorus by up to 10 percent.

  • Lisa takes place on the Government’s panel of experts on sewage sludge

    The Swedish Government recently convened its new panel of experts in relation to the terms of reference on non-toxic and circular recovery of phosphorus from sewage sludge. One of the experts on the panel is Ragn-Sells’ Lisa Wigh, agronomist and business developer with the focus on resource recovery from sewage sludge.

  • Archaeological finds from Slussen at Ragn-Sells in Högbytorp

    Children's leather shoes dating from the 14th century and a well-preserved clasp knife from the 17th century. These are some of the many finds that have been made by the archaeologists working on the material that has been dredged up during the work on the Slussen area – this work is taking place at Ragn-Sells’ Högbytorp recycling plant, where the material is taken and processed.
