STRONG GROWTH FOR BOX DISTILLERY DELIVERS HISTORIC RESULTS

Box Destilleri AB has reported a successful 2015. Turnover increased by 48% and for the first time in its initial period since launching, the company has posted a positive financial result. Turnover in 2015, including changes in stored stock, reached 34.2 MSEK (Swedish kroner).

”In terms of results, we are now one year ahead of our long term budget”, says CEO Thomas Larsson. ”Our posted results have increased by 3 MSEK since 2014, thanks mainly to strong sales development.”

“The increase in total sales is almost 70%. Bottled products comprise the largest single increase, however even sales of vats have managed to reach demanding sales targets. 2015 also saw us launch our visitor service at the distillery in Ångermanland. The new visitor centre has made a positive contribution to our operations”.

At the distillery, production has been full-on for the entire year and Box has produced around 101 000 litres of malted spirit in its copper stills. The increase in stores of maturing spirits is fully in line with company’s planning.

“Interest and demand for our whisky has been enormous, not least in the international market and during 2015, we exported the first 2000 bottles to our French sales partner La Maison de Whisky, explains Thomas Larsson. “Even this expansion into the international market is happening ahead of schedule, thanks to the huge interest in Box.”

“There are a lot of positives to be taken from 2015, the main one being the fantastic response we have received from our customers. We make a big effort to be seen and to be active in the places we can meet our customers and talk to them about our singular approach ‘The Box Way’ – a single malt whisky from another perspective.’ The energy we get back from our whisky friends around the country and to an extent around the world is the perfect fuel to power our development.”
