Peace or inner peace is the theme of Lights in Alingsås 2023

On Friday, October 6th, Alingsås Energi will inaugurate the 24th edition of Lights in Alingsås with the theme "Rays of light – one peace at a time".

The world needs peace and people need inner peace. Our worldwide situation requires a lot of patience, aid and resilience. But also the ability to see the light where it manages to shine through. Find that ray, streak or flicker and find inner peace, if only for a moment. The light will break through – one peace at a time.

This year's seven lighting designers will be inspired by and interpret the themes of peace, hope and inner harmony. The route is approximately two kilometers long, following Gerdska stigen along Lillån towards Stampens kvarn, and then back towards the city center. Visitors will see a mix of cityscapes, nature, waterways, and beloved places in Alingsås.

This year, Children´s Lights will take place in Järtas park. Designer and drama teacher Malin Wallin will once again create a playful environment for all with a childlike mind. The installation is sponsored by Alingsås Energi together with Sparbanken Alingsås.

The guided tours depart from Åmanska park, as in previous years. If you want to discover the installations on your own, there is the possibility to purchase a digital guided tour (audio guide) in the Lights in Alingsås app. The app also provides information about all permanent installations designed by Alingsås Energi and Alingsås municipality over the past 24 years.

The successful collaboration with Alströmergymnasiet's Sales and Service program continues this autumn as the second-year students practice as hosts in Åmanska park.

Lights in Alingsås workshop starts on September 30th and runs until October 7th. The festival will be inaugurated on October 6th and will run until November 5th.

This year's six installations are as follows:

1. Lillån – Martina Frattura, based in Portugal.
2. Stampens kvarn – Lina Färje, based in Sweden.
3. Equmeniakyrkan – Linus Lopez, based in India.
4. Allén – David Ghatan, based in USA.
5. Nygrens Handelsgård – Nick Dankers, based in the Netherlands.
6. Christinae kyrkpark – Iris Molendijk & Sara Altelind, based in Sweden.

Highlight – Children´s Lights, Järtas park – Malin Wallin.
