Aqua Nobel Wins Swedish Armed Forces Contract – Signs Framework Agreement for Packaged Drinking Water

Aqua Nobel has won the Swedish Armed Forces’ procurement contract to supply and store packaged drinking water. This new four-year framework agreement marks a significant milestone for Aqua Nobel and underscores the company’s commitment to ensuring that emergency preparedness meets the highest standards.

Aqua Nobel has long been a leader in developing robust contingency solutions to ensure a reliable drinking water supply. In autumn 2023, the company conducted a pilot study on behalf of the Swedish Food Agency, focusing on the ability of companies within the food and drink industry to adapt their production in crises. This study provided valuable insights, further enhancing Aqua Nobel’s capacity to advance its products and services in emergency preparedness. Aqua Nobel has now secured the Swedish Armed Forces’ contract for “Packaged Drinking Water and Storage of Packaged Drinking Water.”

Preparedness and emergency water planning are foundational to societal crisis response and essential in mitigating the impact of disruptions in water supply.

Aqua Nobel’s water comes from a 105-meter-deep source in Mörarp. Thick rock layers protect the source from pollutants such as fertilizers, pesticides, and PFAS, ensuring clean, safe, and high-quality drinking water. Aqua Nobel’s emergency water has a five-year shelf life and is packaged in environmentally friendly 500ml Tetra Pak Prisma® cartons.

“Today, packaging must serve a purpose beyond simply being a container. Access to a major water source also brings a responsibility to address societal challenges and support sustainable development,” concludes Pontus Klenell.
