Save the date

The recipient of the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award 2013 will be announced on March 26 at 1:00 pm CET. In line with tradition, the announcement will take place at Astrid Lindgren’s Näs in Vimmerby and streamed live to the world’s biggest book fair for young readers in Bologna, where Sweden this year is Guest of Honor. The announcement and the following presentation of the recipient will be broadcast live on www.alma.se.

The 2013 award week takes place in Stockholm between May 21st and 27th. The recipient will then participate in public programmes and meet media and journalists. The award ceremony takes place on May 27 at 6:00 pm at the Stockholm Concert Hall.

Children have the right to great stories

The Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award was created in 2002 by the Swedish government to promote every child’s right to great stories. This global award is given annually to a person or organisation for their outstanding contribution to children’s and young adult literature. With a prize of five million Swedish kronor, it is the largest award of its kind. Administrated by the Swedish Arts Council.
