Acorn Expands Service Capabilities in the UK Through the Acquisition of LER Ltd
Acorn, part of Axel Johnson International’s Power Transmission Solutions business group, has acquired LER Ltd (LER), a UK-based electro-mechanical engineering company with strong expertise in electric motor repair and advanced on-site services.
The acquisition is a natural next step in Acorn’s strategy to further strengthen its service offering and continue the journey toward becoming a full-range solutions provider. By adding LER’s specialist capabilities, Acorn enhances its ability to support customers with critical repair services, vibration analysis and on-site work.
“This acquisition strengthens Acorn’s service capabilities. LER brings highly specialized skills that are difficult to build organically, and together we can offer customers more complete and reliable solutions,” says Gavin Stacey, Managing Director at Acorn.
LER is located between Derby and Nottingham, just south of Acorn’s largest branch in Rotherham. This enables efficient collaboration, while the companies’ largely complementary customer bases create strong opportunities for cross-selling and shared growth. LER brings a well-established customer base, complementing Acorn’s existing customer segments.
All employees from LER will remain with the company following the acquisition. The existing management team will continue to lead the business, ensuring continuity for customers keeping the specialist expertise that defines LER’s strong market reputation.
“Joining Acorn gives us the opportunity to continue doing what we do best, while benefiting from the support and long-term perspective of a larger group. This is a positive step for our employees and for our customers,” says David Sherratt, Managing Director at LER.
Together, Acorn and LER will offer a broader and more integrated service proposition, helping customers reduce downtime and simplify maintenance by combining products and services into a single, reliable partnership.
