Axel Johnson International’s Fluid Handling Solutions Group Expands in the Nordics – AxFlow AB Acquires Advanced Vacuum
Axel Johnson International continues its strategic growth journey through its Fluid Handling Solutions business group with the acquisition of Advanced Vacuum in Sweden. The acquisition is carried out by AxFlow AB, part of the AxFlow Group, and further strengthens the group’s position in the Nordic vacuum technology market.
Founded in 1995, Advanced Vacuum has established a strong reputation for its technical excellence and high-quality service in vacuum pumps and equipment. As an authorised service partner of Atlas Copco Edwards — a global leader in vacuum technology and one of AxFlow’s strategic partners — the company brings extensive expertise and trusted customer relationships. With headquarters in Ängelholm and a service facility in Uppsala, Advanced Vacuum serves customers across Sweden and the broader Nordic region, particularly in sectors such as semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, energy, and R&D.
“The acquisition of Advanced Vacuum positions us as a market leader in vacuum equipment and services in Sweden and significantly strengthens our presence in the Nordics,” says Niklas Holmstedt, Managing Director of AxFlow AB. “Their deep technical competence and long-standing partnership with Edwards are invaluable assets. This is an important step in our long-term strategy to expand within high-technology applications and add value for our customers.”
For the AxFlow Group, the acquisition delivers several strategic advantages:
- Broader product and service offering in vacuum technology.
- Strengthened in-house service capacity across Sweden.
- Immediate access to new customer segments and technical know-how.
“Celebrating our 30th anniversary this year, we are proud to join the AxFlow Group and excited about the journey ahead,” says Peter Christensen, Managing Director and owner of Advanced Vacuum. “This step allows us to grow beyond our current markets, reduce customer concentration, and benefit from AxFlow’s strong network and capabilities. Together with AxFlow SE and Bergius, we can offer even greater value to our customers.”
This acquisition also supports Axel Johnson International’s overarching strategy to grow in technically advanced and value-aligned markets. It expands the group’s exposure to critical industries such as semiconductors and research, while reinforcing its stronghold in pharmaceuticals and process industries. Customers will benefit from a wider product portfolio, deeper technical support, and more seamless service delivery across the region.
