Lifting Solutions Expands its Engineering Capabilities in Australia with the Acquisition of The Lifting Company

Axel Johnson International's business group Lifting Solutions has acquired The Lifting Company (TLC), a Perth-based specialist in engineered lifting and rigging solutions. The acquisition strengthens Lifting Solutions' Australian platform by adding in-house design, engineering, and fabrication capabilities for complex lifting applications.

Founded in 2001, TLC has grown from a wire rope and lifting distributor into a provider of high-value engineered solutions for demanding industrial environments. The company delivers custom lifting and rigging solutions supported by inspection and testing services, with strong expertise in conveyor engineering for the mining industry, including belt-handling winch systems.

"The Lifting Company is a strong addition to our Australian platform," says Claes Fredlund, Regional Director APAC at Lifting Solutions. "TLC brings valuable engineering expertise, a customer-focused approach, and a proven ability to solve complex lifting challenges. Their focus on safe, compliant solutions is closely aligned with Lifting Solutions’ ambition to support customers in demanding industrial environments."

As part of the Lifting Solutions organization, TLC will gain access to a broader network of sister companies in Australia and the long-term resources to invest in its capabilities and processes. Collaboration will be developed where it creates clear value through knowledge sharing, broader customer access, and complementary offerings across lifting, rigging, rental, and engineered solutions. Each business will continue to serve its customers independently, with its own identity, focus, and customer relationships intact.

The current owners Matthew Clarke and Michael Miller, will remain active in the business and continue to support its development.

"We have built TLC around technical problem-solving and close customer relationships," says Matthew Clarke, Managing Director of The Lifting Company. Michael Miller, General Manager, adds: "Joining Lifting Solutions gives us the right platform to continue developing the business under our own brand, while maintaining the structure and flexibility that have shaped our company so far. Our customers can expect the same people, the same service, and the same commitment they have always experienced from us."

The acquisition is part of Axel Johnson International's long-term ambition to build a leading global platform in lifting solutions. In Australia, Lifting Solutions has established a nationwide presence with a growing offering in lifting, rigging, rental, and engineered solutions.
