Spanish Power Transmission company Royse enters the Portuguese market through the acquisition of April
Auto Acessorios Progresso Do Chile, Sociedade Unipessoal, LDA., and selected assets in Auto Progresso Industrial Lusitania-April, Lda (together “April”) have been acquired by Rodamientos y Servicios (“Royse”), part of Axel Johnson International’s business group Power Transmission Solutions. As of closing, the company will go to market as April Royse Unipessoal LDA. Through a long-term commitment, April has successfully built a strong customer and supplier base, which now strengthens Royse’s position in Portugal and enhances its ability to serve customers across Iberia.

Founded in 1986 on the outskirts of Lisbon, April is a power transmission specialist that distinguish itself from competitors through its expertise in mechanical transmission products e.g., chains, transmission belts, couplings, and conveying parts. With its 17 employees, April operates from two premises with its main facility in Lisbon and a branch office just outside of Porto, allowing April to secure quick deliveries throughout Portugal.
The companies’ operations and product portfolios are highly complementary. April’s market reputation and strong customer base are essential for Royse to grow in Portugal, while April will benefit from Royse’s existing customer and supplier relationships.
The majority owner of April, Carlos Correia, will remain in the company, he comments the acquisition: “The opportunity to integrate a vast Iberian and international network of specialized companies in our sector of activity, allows April to enhance know-how in order to achieve the highest standards of quality in serving customers, fulfilling the initial objective to support Portuguese industry.”
