Transport Solutions Acquires Begni Group to Strengthen Position in Southern Europe

Forankra Group, part of Axel Johnson International’s Transport Solutions business group, has acquired Begni Group S.p.A., a well-established Italian distributor of primarily cargo securing and lifting products. The acquisition strengthens Forankra Group’s presence in Southern Europe and supports its strategy to expand regionally while enhancing its offering within the industrial segment.

Begni Group, founded in 1952 and based in Travagliato near Brescia, Italy, has a strong presence in the Northern Italian industrial market. The company specializes in soft lifting, cargo securing, and one way securing (OWS), serving customers in key sectors such as the steel industry, carpentry, transport & logistics, and shipbuilding.

The acquisition represents a strong strategic fit for Forankra Group, particularly within soft lifting and one-way lashing, where Begni Group’s complementary positioning and industrial customer base will contribute to further growth. In addition, the transaction creates opportunities to leverage commercial and technical synergies across the group, including product development, cross-selling, and supply chain optimization.

Begni Group will continue to operate under its current brand and management. Francesco Moretti, Managing Director and third-generation owner, will remain as a minority shareholder together with his father Luigi Moretti, ensuring continuity and long-term development of the business.

The acquisition reflects Axel Johnson International’s strategy to grow through acquisitions and develop companies with strong market positions, supported by a decentralized structure and long-term ownership approach.
