Press release -

Berghs School of Communication Enters Academic Partnership with Domus Academy Milano, accredited by NABA

The partnership is part of Berghs School of Communication’s and Domus Academy’s commitment to international creative education. It opens new opportunities for students interested in studying across different schools and design cultures.

Berghs Bachelor is Berghs School of Communication’s most internationally oriented study program and has served as a springboard for creative studies abroad for over 20 years. In addition to current academic tracks in the United Kingdom, the United States, and Australia, the new Milan pathway provides an opportunity for students to combine a professional foundation in Stockholm with an internationally recognized university degree. Students begin their studies with a foundation term in Stockholm before completing a Bachelor of Arts in Design or Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design at Domus Academy Milano.

Similarly, Domus Academy’s Master-level students can choose to complete their studies in Stockholm, adding an international flavor to their Master Degrees by immersing into Berghs Advanced Portfolio Programs in Advertising and Design.

Domus Academy is based in central Milan, one of the world’s leading cities for design and fashion. The school hosts approximately 75 undergraduate and 300 master’s students, offering a project-based curriculum delivered in English and developed in close collaboration with industry.

Giorgio Lospennato, Managing Director, Domus Academy, comments:
“We are proud to embark on this collaboration with Berghs School of Communication, founded on our mutual commitment to innovation, creativity, and academic excellence. This partnership reflects Domus Academy’s focus on creating meaningful international opportunities for both students and faculty, empowering the next generation of creatives to engage in cross-cultural exchange and shape the future of the global design landscape.”

Domus Academy provides an international learning environment shaped by the city’s dynamic design and fashion industries. The design culture in Milan offers a strong contrast to the Scandinavian model—bold and expressive in Italy, functional and minimalistic in Sweden—allowing students to engage with diverse creative traditions and develop their own design identities.

The partnership is also based on a shared educational philosophy. Domus Academy’s emphasis on practical skills, real-world projects, and industry collaboration aligns closely with Berghs’ Action-Based Pedagogy. This compatibility supports both student pathways and future faculty collaboration.

Marco Ortolani, Director of International Business at Berghs School of Communication, comments:
“This collaboration with Domus Academy strengthens our international education platform by broadening the geographical and cultural reach of the Berghs Bachelor program and the Advanced Portfolio Programs. It provides our students with access to specialized design and fashion training in one of Europe’s most creative cities, and it opens our doors to Domus Academy’s Master students.”
