CFHILL is pleased to announce the upcoming exhibition Colors of the Wind by Ethiopian artist Girmachew Getnet

CFHILL is pleased to announce the upcoming exhibition Colors of the Wind by Ethiopian artist Girmachew Getnet. The exhibition will be held from March 31 to April 24 in our main gallery in Stockholm.

Girmachew Getnet is known for his vibrant and expressive paintings, uses bold colors and dynamic brushstrokes to convey a sense of movement and energy. His motifs often include human characteristics and elements from nature, underscoring the importance of caring for the environment and our communities. Colors of the Wind is Getnet’s latest series of works, showcasing symbolic and meditative self-portraits painted on large-scale raw texture canvas.

‘The artworks of Colors of the Wind proclaim the freedom of the human mind, spirit and thoughts to travel as far as the mind allows, to ask and answer in search of the truth, to find the pure answer from nature, from the deepest part of the spirit, everything that is written there,’ Getnet explains.

‘We are very happy to welcome Girmachew back to CFHILL after our large-scale survey of art from the Horn of Africa in partnership with Addis Fine Art in 2021. This solo exhibition is an opportunity to dive deeper into and appreciate Girmachew’s vibrant artistic and spiritual language.’

— Michael Elmenbeck

Girmachew Getnet was born 1980 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and is now based in Frankfurt, Germany. Following his graduation from the Alle School of Fine Arts and Design in Addis Ababa, he co-founded the Habesha Art Studio. His works has been exhibited in various exhibitions in Los Angeles, London, Nairobi, Adis Ababa, Frankfurt and Stockholm.
