Chromafora expands its PFAS treatment capabilities with the acquisition of Montrose Environmental Group Denmark
The Swedish cleantech company Chromafora has acquired 100 percent of the shares in Montrose Environmental Group Denmark, a Danish PFAS specialist and provider of technical solutions for the treatment of contaminated water. Through the acquisition, Chromafora has further broadened and strengthened its already unique offering for PFAS treatment in complex water streams.
On December 31, 2025, Chromafora completed the acquisition of Montrose Environmental Group Denmark ApS, the Danish subsidiary of U.S.-based Montrose Environmental Group, Inc. In connection with the acquisition, the company was renamed Chromafora Denmark ApS.
“We have strengthened Chromafora with key talent and expertise across multiple water treatment technologies. The acquisition expands market access and delivery capacity, aligns with our partner strategy, and accelerates growth by scaling a broader PFAS removal offering across the Nordic region and Europe,” says Johan Seijmer, CEO of Chromafora.
The newly added team in Denmark is well regarded for its high level of technical expertise and ability to solve demanding field challenges. Through a large installed base and strong customer relationships, the team has built extensive experience in PFAS treatment in complex water streams, using proven methods as well as a unique solution specifically designed to meet regulatory requirements related to long-chain PFAS. The acquisition represents a strong complement to Chromafora’s SELPAXT technology, which is particularly effective for short- and ultra-short-chain PFAS.
Tore Svendsen, Managing Director of Chromafora Denmark, looks forward to being part of the combined organization and the opportunities it creates.
“We will continue to apply our knowledge and expertise in water treatment for customers across the Nordic region and the rest of Europe. With this acquisition, we now have greater strength, expertise, and capacity to further develop our services and solutions,” says Tore Svendsen.
As part of the transaction, Montrose became an investor and shareholder in Chromafora, marking the beginning of an expanded collaboration between the two companies and demonstrating Montrose’s commitment to supporting Chromafora alongside its other corporate and strategic investments. As part of this transaction, ECT2 a subsidiary of Montrose, has entered into a contract with Chromafora to license its proprietary technology in order to enable scale and growth across Europe.
