Cirkus Cirkör announces Canadian Tour in 2027

In early 2027, Cirkus Cirkör will embark on an extensive Canadian tour with performances in Vancouver, Québec City, and Montréal. The tour marks another important step in the company’s long-standing international journey, bringing Cirkus Cirkör to some of the world’s most influential venues and institutions for contemporary circus. The tour is presented in collaboration with The Cultch, DanceHouse and PuSh International Performing Arts Festival in Vancouver, Le Diamant in Québec City, and TOHU in Montréal – all internationally renowned presenters within contemporary performing arts and circus.

– Presenting our work on these stages in Canada is tremendously meaningful for us. Cirkus Cirkör has worked internationally for many years and performed for audiences around the world, but the institutions now inviting us are among the most influential in contemporary circus and have helped shape the art form globally, says Kajsa Giertz, CEO at Cirkus Cirkör.

Canada has long been an international centre for contemporary circus, not least through institutions and companies such as Cirque du Soleil and the strong circus communities in Montréal and Québec.

Knitting Peace, directed by Tilde Björfors, premiered in Marseille in 2013. After more than 400 performances around the world, Knitting Peace recently opened the German festival KulturPur, where the performance was highlighted in the German press and described as a poetic and visually powerful experience that set the tone for the entire festival.

– For a Swedish company to be presented on these stages is an important recognition within the international circus world. Canadian contemporary circus has become synonymous with artistic innovation, world-class production standards, and creative excellence, says Marie-Andrée Robitaille, Head of Arts & Productions at Cirkus Cirkör.

The tour will take place between January and February 2027 and includes a total of thirteen performances:

  • The Vancouver Playhouse, Vancouver, January 27–30
  • Le Diamant, Québec City, February 5–7
  • TOHU, Montréal, February 10–14

About the venues

Le Diamant in Québec City is an internationally acclaimed venue founded by director Robert Lepage and an important hub for contemporary performing arts in Canada. TOHU in Montréal is considered one of the world’s leading centres for contemporary circus and sustainable cultural development. The Vancouver Playhouse in Vancouver is one of Canada’s foremost venues for contemporary performing arts.
