Cirkus Cirkör presents HOPE in MOTION – new production premiering in 2027
Building on more than 30 years of touring contemporary circus internationally, Cirkus Cirkör is now creating HOPE in MOTION, a new production premiering in 2027. On stage, circus artists and a live musician come together in HOPE in MOTION, a performance about hope in our time and our ability to shape the future. The Swedish premiere will take place at Lokomotivet in Eskilstuna in June 2027, followed by a tour in Sweden and the international premiere in Lublin, Poland, in October the same year.
HOPE in MOTION is Cirkus Cirkör’s new circus production, bringing together a new constellation of circus artists in a collective creative process with hope as its driving force.
Moving through a series of worlds in transformation, the performance reflects on a world in transition, exploring our capacity for hope even when hope for humanity and the future is put to the test. With an original score performed live, the production draws inspiration from folk tales and stories from our own time.
– Hope, to me, is not about believing that everything will work out. It is about trying to change something anyway. There is a very tangible connection to circus here: what we do depends on people relating to and trusting one another. In many ways, what we are exploring in Hope in motion is already inherent in the nature of circus – and in the collective creative process, where different experiences, ideas and areas of expertise come together to shape the work, says Kajsa Giertz, CEO and Artistic Director of Cirkus Cirkör.
Before the premiere, audiences in selected locations will have the opportunity to experience the production in a special edition format, in which the work continues to evolve and each performance becomes a unique version at that venue. During early spring 2027, HOPE in MOTION – Special Edition will be presented in Lokomotivet in Eskilstuna, Subtopia's stage Hangaren, Botkyrka and in Väven in Umeå.
The full-scale production of HOPE in MOTION will have its Swedish premiere at Lokomotivet in Eskilstuna in June 2027 and will be presented in Uppsala Konsert & Kongress (UKK) in the same month.
The International premiere will take place at Centrum Spotkania Kultur in Lublin, Poland, in October 2027, as part of the city’s journey towards becoming European Capital of Culture 2029.
