COGIG ANNOUNCES FEMALE LEADER ENGINEER FINLAND 2025 – SHAPING THE FUTURE OF LEADERSHIP IN INDUSTRY

On November 16, Vilma Törö was named Female Leader Engineer 2025 – an award presented to a female engineering student with the potential to take on a leading position in the industry of tomorrow.

Female Leader Engineer is a talent program for female engineering students who aspire to take on leadership roles in industry. The program combines inspiration, company visits and case challenges, giving participants first-hand experience of leadership in practice. Out of this year’s finalists, one student has been named Female Leader Engineer 2025.

A PLATFORM FOR FUTURE LEADERS
Throughout the program, participants have met with leading Nordic companies, gained insights into career opportunities, and built networks with role models in leadership. The finalists prepared a case assignment, and the jury selected one winner who stood out for their leadership potential, innovative mindset, and ability to inspire others.

The winner will also take part in a tailored self-leadership program with leadership expert Anna Landegren from The New Leadership.

STRONG PARTNERS BEHIND THE PROGRAM
Female Leader Engineer Finland is made possible in collaboration with leading companies who share the ambition of creating a more inclusive industry. This year’s partners companies are Boliden, Fortum and Stora Enso.

"For the development of our operations, it is important that we have people from diverse backgrounds and with different ways of thinking. By participating in the Female Leading Engineer program, we want to encourage women to pursue leadership positions and utilize their full potential. Boliden offers extensive career opportunities, and we constantly need new, innovative perspectives, especially in areas such as technology development and advancing the green transition”, says Tarja Halonen, Corporate Responsibility Manager at Boliden Kokkola.

“We are excited to expand the Female Leader Engineer program to Finland. This initiative is yet another significant step towards making Stora Enso a more diverse and future-ready company. By participating in this program, we aim to attract and inspire future talent to pursue leadership roles in industry and technology”, says Matti Lielahti, SVP Operations & Oulu Mill Director at Stora Enso.

” We are happy to participate in Female Leader Engineer both in Sweden and Finland. For us, diversity and inclusion are key to a successful business strategy, driving innovation, enhancing people’s competencies, and to power a world where people, businesses and nature thrive together”, says Mikael Lemström, Executive Vice President, Hydro Generation at Fortum.
