Pressmeddelande -

Consupedia finalist in the 2022 Food Planet Prize

Consupedia has been selected as one of the finalists in the 2022 Food Planet Prize – the world’s largest environmental award.

- This means the world to us. I couldn’t imagine a stronger boost for our work on creating a transparent food system, and for our vision to do so on a global scale, said Roberto Rufo Gonzalez, CEO and founder of Consupedia.

Consupedia is one of ten finalists selected from hundreds of initiatives from all around the world. Among the other finalists are, for example, a textile-based cooking vessel, new techniques for recycling nutrients and a solar-powered cool room.

    - I’m very happy to see sustainability initiatives being acknowledged in this way. Humankind has for too long chosen not to see its impact on the world, but closing our eyes does not make us blind. When we open them, change is just around the corner, said Roberto Rufo Gonzalez.

Among the members of the international jury are climate scientist Johan Rockström, Michelin star chef Magnus Nilsson, South African scientist Lindiwe Sibanda and Line Gordon, Director of the Stockholm Resilience Center. In the next step of the process, the jury will decide on two winners, to be presented in November.

    About Consupedia

In collaboration with researchers at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Dalarna University, Consupedia has created the world’s largest and most detailed database for sustainability information about food products. Currently, the database contains more than 250 000 products and nineteen sustainability parameters showing their impact on environment, health and social justice. Connected to the database, Consupedia has also developed a number of applications and services to help different stakeholders make more sustainable decisions around food. Among these are a free-to-use app for consumers, decision support for wholesalers and retailers, and a service that allows restaurants to automatically generate sustainability declarations for their menus.
