Cortus acquires GEP Group

April 1st, 2011, STOCKHOLM - Cortus has acquired the business of consultancy company GEP Group on April 1, 2011 and therefore forms the subsidiary Cortus Engineering AB. The deal means that cooperation between Cortus and GEP on gasification technologies and projects has entered a new phase.

“Our customers will have a wider and more attractive offer on our innovative gasification technology WoodRoll® with GEP's extensive knowledge and experience of process engineering, combustion and construction projects. The merger will give Cortus a solid implementation capacity of the challenges we face in Sweden, Spain and the United States," says Rolf Ljunggren, CEO of Cortus AB.

GEP Group provides knowledge and networks necessary to develop gas processing systems and cost-effective projects. The company was founded in 2003, has six employees and an annual turn-over of 11 MSEK (2010). The company's expertise includes engineering, methodology, procurement, commissioning, maintenance, safety and certification. GEP Group also offers access to equipments for gas applications and by working together with partners, the company is able to design and build complete biogas plants.

Primary customers of GEP Group today are gas suppliers, energy companies, metallurgical industries, food industries, pharmaceutical industries, petrochemical industries, municipalities and gas distributors. Previous customers of GEP Group include AGA, Nynäs, Outokumpu Stainless, Stockholm Gas and Sandvik.

“GEP’s activities and broad experience in process and gas systems, matches Cortus’ gas production facilities perfectly," says Pär Sjölin, president of Cortus Engineering AB, formerly CEO of GEP Group.

The projects that GEP has conducted within the gas processing field, both as project managers and as suppliers of complete plants, is in line with Cortus’ goals for the future. GEP’s consulting business will continue as before in Cortus Engineering, but will also be complemented with a focus on biogas systems, specifically on Cortus’ patented WoodRoll® process.
