DEFA Group Reports 17x Reduction from Products in Use
DEFA Group has released its 2024 Sustainability Report, outlining measurable steps taken to reduce global emissions and demonstrating how sustainability is integrated across its operations.
“At DEFA, sustainability isn’t an add-on — it’s part of our DNA,” says Bård Klungseth, CEO of DEFA Group. “Our technology is designed to deliver real, lasting climate impact, not just promises.”
In 2024, the company’s products in use contributed to a reduction of 135,920 tCO₂e, more than 17 times the company’s own footprint of 7,728 tCO₂e, resulting in a net reduction of 128,192 tCO₂e.
60 + million kWh have been charged through DEFA’s EV chargers, enabling more sustainable mobility across markets.
Millions of drivers use DEFA WarmUp systems daily and cut emissions from cold starts.
Designed with sustainability in mind
The company’s EV chargers, such as DEFA Power, and DEFA’s charging cables are designed with sustainability in mind. For example; the eConnect cables are built from recyclable materials and without potting, they allow for easier disassembly, reduced waste, and higher material recovery at end-of-life.
The report highlights DEFA’s ongoing efforts to embed sustainability throughout the value chain, guided by frameworks such as the UN Global Compact and OECD guidelines, and supported by certifications including ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, and IATF 16949. The company continues to invest in annual ethics training, while fostering diversity, inclusion, and a culture of continuous learning.
While sustainability work is an ongoing process and there is always more to be done, the 2024 report underscores DEFA’s commitment to advancing sustainability in both its operations and the wider mobility ecosystem.
“This report proves that when technology and responsibility work hand in hand, progress becomes exponential,” concludes Klungseth.
