Here are the winners of Denniz Pop Awards 2018

The jury has listened to thousands of outstanding entries, the public’s voted for their favorites, and now—we have a result. Denniz Pop Awards is very proud to present this year’s winners in the Rookie categories—artist Ellen Krauss, and songwriter and producer Litens Anton Nilsson. This year’s Grand Prize goes to possibly the hottest songwriter and producer in the world right now—Ludwig Göransson. This year’s MVP prize is awarded to the voice that made an invaluable contribution to that classic Cheiron sound— singer Nana Hedin.

This year’s winners:

Ellen Krauss - Rookie Artist of the Year
Ellen Krauss, 18, has been awarded the prize for her unique voice and fantastic songwriting talent. After having performed her own music at a school concert, the self-taught musician understood from the cheering audience that artistry could be something for her. Ellen draws inspiration from a wide variety of artists, including Elvis, AC/DC and Bruce Springsteen.

Litens Anton Nilsson - Rookie Songwriter/Producer of the Year
Litens Anton Nilsson, 25, is a classically trained pianist who opted out of concert hall life to write and produce contemporary music. He has been awarded the prize for both his innovative sound and awesome songs. Litens has collaborated with and written for artists such as SHY Martin, Icona Pop and Tove Lo.

Ludwig Göransson - The Grand Prize
Ludwig Göransson has been awarded The Grand Prize for his fantastic efforts during the year and his enormous musical range. He’s the composer behind Childish Gambio’s worldwide hit and billboard number-one, “This is America.” He’s been nominated in several American Grammy categories, and won with the song “Redbone.” Ludwig has even created the soundtrack for the hugely successful film Black Panther.

Nana Hedin - MVP
The singer Nana Hedin has been awarded the Most Valuable Person prize for her behind-the-scenes contribution, helping to form the classic Cherion sound. In doing so, she has also contributed to the “Swedish Music Wonder.” Over the course of her career, Nana has backed up artists like Britney Spears and Celine Dion. She’s also the singular voice in many of E-Type’s greatest hits.

“We’re completely blown away by the standard of the entries this year,” says Jacob Schulze, initiator of Denniz Pop Awards and Chairman of the Jury. “It hasn’t been easy sifting through the goldmine, but we are so proud and happy to present this year’s winners in the Rookie categories. It will be incredibly exciting to follow Ellen and Litens’ journey forward.”

Denniz Pop Awards is about keeping the legacy of Denniz Pop alive. The awards aim to uplift and celebrate promising new talents in songwriting, production and artistry. They also seek to praise the year’s greatest international success (Grand Prize), and pay tribute to the individuals who have made an invaluable contribution to the industry (MVP).

“Ludwig’s successes this year are sensational,” says Jacob Schulze. “Even though we’re spoiled with so many insanely talented and successful songwriters and producers in Sweden, it was easy to choose the winner of the Grand Prize this year. And the same goes for the MVP of the year—without Nana, the Cherion sound wouldn’t have sounded like it did. She’s been an invaluable part of the Cherion story and deserves this prize more than anyone else.”

This year’s prizes were distributed on the 6th of June at a gala in Stockholm.
