Stockholm, 10 February

Starting the new year, Doconomy and Klarna have agreed to extend their partnership providing CO2 insights for all shopping through Klarna until the end of 2023.The partnership, which provides carbon footprint data to Klarna’s 90m+ consumers is one of the largest-ever carbon impact awareness-raising efforts, and will therefore continue and expand with every new user around the world. The partnership further fuels Klarna’s larger climate commitment. Klarna gives 1% of its funding rounds to environmental initiatives and committed to donating $16.5 million as of October, supporting the planet and an ambitious plan to reduce the company’s own carbon footprint.

Doconomy's reach in providing services to help consumers worldwide become better informed and more conscious is accelerated by Klarna’s growing network of more than 90 million consumers and 250,000 retailers.

“The financial sector has developed a tremendous efficiency and Klarna is ahead of the curve. It is great to see that same speed and efficiency address the climate crisis. Extending the Doconomy and Klarna partnership marks another brilliant step in the ambition to direct funds and educate users at the very core of consumption”, says Mathias Wikström, CEO of Doconomy.

Doconomy and Klarna aim to further provide impact metrics and contribute to both the extended understanding of the true cost of consumption globally and to provide users with the opportunity to take action based on measurability.

“Working side by side with the team at Doconomy ensures an impact conscious customer experience second to none. I’m proud of the effort to provide our users with sustainability information to better understand how their shopping impacts the planet” says Salah Said , Head of Sustainability of Klarna.

Through Doconomy’s collaboration with the United Nations Climate Change secretariat on climate action, innovative tools to explain the impact in a tangible and actionable way are continuously developed.

As a result of this collaboration, Salah Said will also join Doconomy’s advisory board for the future of sustainable consumption.
