What sets DSM apart from other exhibitions, in your opinion?
The uniqueness of Donsö lies in its location, the gathering of industry professionals, and the distinctive atmosphere. Throughout the year, we attend numerous events, but DSM remains a key priority for us, and we consistently participate every two years.

What is your best memory from DSM2023?
We have many great stories from DSM2023, and it’s difficult to highlight just one. However, every time we attend, we bring back new and meaningful memories. The greatest joy comes from reconnecting with industry colleagues we have built relationships with over the years. Despite sometimes being competitors, our shared passion for the industry always takes precedence, fostering a unique and collaborative atmosphere.

What are your expectations for DSM2025?
This year, our expectations are even higher as we have merged with the local company Yngve Höglund Trading (YHT) on Donsö and are now proud to represent Malik in Sweden. YHT will be rebranded as Malik Sweden, maintaining the same strong local values, industry expertise, and professionalism as always. Andreas from YHT - now Malik Sweden - has been a trusted partner for many years, and we are excited to call him a colleague. We have full confidence in his ability to develop partnerships and expand business between the two countries.

What do you see as the biggest opportunities and challenges in the shipping industry today?
The shipping industry faces both significant opportunities and challenges. Digitalization, a cleaner transition into future fuels, and technological advancements such as AI are driving new efficiencies and innovation. At the same time, environmental regulations, geopolitical tensions, and supply chain volatility require strategic adaptation. Striking the right balance between growth and sustainability will be crucial for the industry's future.

How would you describe DSM in one sentence?
DSM is a unique maritime networking event that fosters valuable business connections and industry collaboration.

And finally, do you prefer a sailboat or a motorboat for recreation – and why?
Although our business is rooted in fossil fuels, we prefer a sailboat for recreation. It allows us to experience the tranquility of the sea and the beauty of the Swedish coastline in a more sustainable and serene way - bringing a true sense of joy and connection with nature.
