Equmeniakyrkan och Svenska kyrkan fördömer bombningar i Pakistan
Churches in Sweden condemns the suicide attacks on All Saints’ Church, Peshawar, Pakistan
On behalf of the Bishops’ Conference of the Church of Sweden[1] and the Uniting Church in Sweden[2], the archbishop of Uppsala, Anders Wejryd, and the president of the Uniting Church in Sweden, Lasse Svensson, expresses the sense of shock and horror that has filled us all on hearing about the suicide attack in Peshawar, carried out during Sunday worship 22nd of September. Both churches entertains close links with Church of Pakistan. Representatives of the Church of Pakistan visited Uppsala a year ago and presently a Swedish ecumenical delegation is on tour in Pakistan.
The bishops’ conference of the Church of Sweden wants to express it’s solidarity with the families of those killed and injured in this atrocious act, and with fellow Christians of all denominations in Pakistan. The bishops also strongly urge the Pakistani authorities to take swift measures to ensure that the perpetrators behind Sunday’s mass killing are apprehended, and to take action against those responsible for the increasing religious intolerance.
