Danish Rox Resort named among the world’s best new hotels – just 30 minutes from Copenhagen
Just five months after opening, Rox Resort on the south coast close to Copenhagen has been included in the American travel magazine Travel + Leisure’s It List 2026 of the worlds 100 best new luxury hotels. For a newly opened Danish beach resort, this marks an unusually swift international recognition.
It typically takes years to build the reputation required to attract global attention. Rox Resort has achieved it in just five months.
On 15 April, Travel + Leisure unveiled its annual It List, highlighting the 100 best new and renovated hotels worldwide. Among this year’s selected properties is Rox Resort, which opened in November 2025 just 30 minutes south of Copenhagen. The resort now appears alongside some of the most talked-about hotel openings globally.
“Travel + Leisure’s It List is one of the most prestigious recognitions in our industry. To see Rox already featured among the world’s best new hotels makes me incredibly proud of the entire team. It’s a major achievement for Rox and for Denmark,” says Carl Hegestad, General Manager of Rox Resort.
The It List is not based on nominations or public voting. Instead, it is editorially curated based on the magazine’s own hotel stays. Over the past year, Travel + Leisure journalists have visited nearly 200 new and renovated hotels worldwide, selecting the 100 properties they consider offer the strongest new hotel experiences of the year.
For Rox Resort, the decisive visit came from an American travel journalist from Travel + Leisure, who stayed at the property shortly after its opening.
“We opened only a few months ago, and already Travel + Leisure is highlighting Rox as one of the world’s best new hotels. It’s a strong validation that what we’ve created here — through design, service and our location just outside Copenhagen, right on the Danish coast — has international appeal,” says Hegestad.
Rox Resort is located directly on Køge Bay, approximately 30 minutes from central Copenhagen, offering a rare combination of beachfront setting and easy access to one of Europe’s most dynamic capital cities. The resort features 156 rooms and suites, three heated pools, a rooftop Pool Club with sauna and spa facilities, as well as restaurants and bars serving Asian-inspired cuisine and signature cocktails. Additional facilities include padel courts and eight conference and event spaces.
The design draws on Nordic, continental and Asian influences, where Scandinavian simplicity meets a more refined, international aesthetic. From the outset, the ambition has been to create a resort that appeals to both Danish guests, international weekend travellers and companies seeking distinctive settings for meetings and events within easy reach of Copenhagen.
The recognition was published on travelandleisure.com on 15 April. A selection of this year’s It List hotels was also featured in the magazine’s May issue, the annual Hotels Issue, released on 17 April.
