This Swedish hotel group is the first to offer on-site veterinary services for dogs. Makes veterinary care part of the guest experience
Hotels that welcome dogs are nothing new. But hotels that welcome dogs and offer veterinary care? That’s a first. The Swedish hotel group ESS Group, renowned for creating destinations where every detail counts, is breaking new ground by making veterinary services an integral part of the stay.
“We love dogs and see them as our guests just like humans. Both two- and four-legged travelers should feel completely safe and cared for. By teaming up with Vet at Home, we want to set a new standard in hospitality where care and guest experience go hand in hand,” says Anders Nilsson, COO of ESS Group.
Launching in October 2025 under the name Vet at ESS, the service gives hotel guests traveling with dogs access to everything from routine nail clipping and health checks to vaccinations, EU passports, travel certificates, and emergency treatment. Licensed veterinarians provide the services, which can be booked in advance or through the hotel reception during the stay.
The initiative is a direct response to a fast-growing travel trend: more dog owners are choosing to bring their pets along and expect the same level of comfort, safety, and care for them as for themselves. With the number of registered dogs rising across Europe, demand for accessible veterinary care on the road has never been clearer.
“With Vet at ESS, we can meet pets and their owners in a completely new way—both in everyday life and when traveling. Together, we’re creating safer, more accessible veterinary care exactly where it’s needed,” says Robert Hållstrand, CEO of Vet at Home.
First destinations to launch the service in October 2025 are:
Maryhill Estate, Jacy’z, Hotel Bellora, Pigalle, Hjortviken Country Club, Steam Hotel, and Ellery Beach House.
The rollout will then expand to more ESS resorts across the Nordics.
How it works:
- Licensed veterinarians available for booking via phone, email, or at reception
- Services include vaccinations, EU passports, travel certificates, nail clipping, deworming, health checks, and individual treatments
- Emergency support for illness or injury during the stay
- First launch at seven ESS Group destinations in Sweden
With Vet at ESS, ESS Group hopes not only to redefine the concept of a dog-friendly hotel but also to set the direction for a future where the needs of four-legged guests are taken just as seriously as those of their owners.

MJ'S hittar du i Malmö och i Västerås finns The Steam Hotel byggt i ett 100 år gammalt ångkraftverk. Ellery Beach House är placerad i den vackra naturen på Lidingö och Fýri - Resort of Norway är vår första mountain boutique resort i Hemsedal, Norge. I Danmark ser det riktigt godt ut med strandhotellet Marienlyst i Helsingör.
Näst på tur är Maryhill Estate i Skåne, Hjortviken Country Club i Hindås, och med tanke på att vi älskar Danmark, kommer Rox Resort i Köge. Samt en helt ny hästgård vid namn Skönabäck.
