Färgfabriken selected as new member of European architecture platform LINA

LINA (Learn, Interact and Network in Architecture) is a European architectural platform coordinated by the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia and co-funded by the European Commission. The platform's goal is to strengthen collaboration between emerging professionals and established institutions across Europe, as well as to promote regenerative and sustainable architectural practices in line with the European Green Deal.

Selected from among 79 cultural organisations from across Europe, Färgfabriken received unanimous support among shortlisted candidates. The Governing Board who headed the selection process underlined:

“Färgfabriken is deeply aligned with LINA’s values of sustainability, interdisciplinary, collaboration and mentorship. These values are grounded in Färgfabriken’s 30 years of experience of bringing together art, architecture and urban development.”

The two-tier selection process was first carried out by representatives of full LINA Members, and in its second phase, through interviews with three shortlisted candidates by the LINA Governing Board. In their report, they further elaborated:

“Färgfabriken’s visionary yet pragmatic approach, which is grounded in care, experimentation and sustainability, is a perfect fit for LINA. It has the potential to drive transformation and enhance the platform’s ability to achieve its goals. Färgfabriken will bring fresh perspectives, innovative approaches, and a strong commitment to collaboration, further strengthening LINA’s mission to foster regenerative and inclusive spatial practices across Europe.”

The selection process highlighted the high quality and diversity of applications, reflecting the vibrant and dynamic nature of the European architectural and cultural landscape. While all three finalists (Färgfabriken, Architecture Film Festival Rotterdam and KÉK – Hungarian Contemporary Architecture Centre Budapest)presented compelling opportunities for LINA, the Governing Board’s decision was guided by a strict adherence to the evaluation criteria and a careful analysis of how each candidate’s proposed contributions would translate into practice.

“I am proud and honored to have been selected as a new member of the LINA network. Becoming part of this European platform for architecture represents an important recognition of Färgfabriken’s work and our ongoing engagement with contemporary spatial and societal issues. We look forward to contributing to and learning from the collective exchange of knowledge within the network, and to collaborating with LINA Fellows in exploring the role of architecture in a rapidly changing world.“

Anna-Karin Wulgué, Färgfabriken’s director.

Färgfabriken is a foundation and an exhibition space for contemporary art and architecture. We produce and showcase exhibitions in a former factory building in the old industrial area of Lövholmen, where we have operated since 1995. Färgfabriken is also a space for talks, workshops and other cultural activities. By working experimentally and across borders, bringing together different experiences and skills, Färgfabriken creates the conditions for new ideas, knowledge and artistic creations.
