The travel magazine FREEDOMtravel attended 25 UNWTO in Samarkand

On October 16-20, 2023, 25 UNWTO was held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, i.e. the 25th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations World Tourism Organization. The travel magazine FREEDOMtravel attended, both to report on the conference and to write reports about the mythical destination Samarkand.

25 UNWTO in Samarkand

UNWTO (United Nations World Tourism Organization) organizes a general assembly every two years, and this year Uzbekistan was the host nation. The conference was held in the mythical city of Samarkand, in a completely newly built part of the city named "Silk Road Samarkand Tourist Center".

This year's general assembly brought together participants from 117 countries as well as around 100 journalists from different parts of the world. During the conference, when the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, gave an opening speech, topics such as sustainable tourism were discussed.
