Fujifilm launches “FUJINON GF32-90mmT3.5 PZ OIS WR” lens

FUJIFILM Corporation has just announced the release of the “FUJINON GF32-90mmT3.5 PZ OIS WR” lens (GF32-90mmT3.5).

The “GF32-90mmT3.5” is the first motorised power zoom1 lens for GFX cameras, and the first GF series lens optimised for motion production. It inherits the operability and design of the widely praised “Premista” series of high-end Cine zoom lenses, yet only weighs approximately 2.1 kg while still producing an image circle that will cover the new “GFX ETERNA 55” digital filmmaking camera in full GF Open Gate mode.

Many filmmakers strive to balance efficiency with uncompromising quality. Covering a wide-to-standard focal range, this zoom lens reduces the need for frequent lens changes while delivering the clarity and character expected from primes. The “GF32-90mmT3.5” minimises optical aberrations, achieving resolution on par with dedicated prime lenses and maintains a bright T3.5 aperture throughout the zoom range.

Combined with the newly announced “GFX ETERNA 55”, the “GF32-90mmT3.5” opens new possibilities in filmmaking, introducing a more efficient shooting style and significantly expanding creative freedom for filmmakers.

Main Product Features

Designed by the team that knows Cine zoom lenses

  • Our proprietary optical design and the internal lens barrel components dramatically reduce focus breathing and optical distortion.
  • Nano GI coatings suppress flare and ghosting, reducing reflection and improving light transmission to create clear and natural images.
  • A 13-blade iris diaphragm achieves a nearly circular aperture to improve the roundness of bokeh, even when slightly stopped down.
  • The lens consists of 25 lens elements in 19 groups including three ED lenses and three aspherical lenses. This effectively suppresses aberrations and helps achieve a compact size while maintaining a bright T3.5 with high resolution throughout the zoom range.

Lightweight and easy to use

  • Leveraging years of expertise in cinema lens element thinning and combining with a rear-focus mechanism, the lens achieves remarkable compactness - measuring about 222mm in length and weighing approximately 2.1 kg
  • Equipped with a triple-ring system that allows independent manual control of focus, zoom, and aperture (iris), all operating rings use the same 0.8M gear pitch as previous FUJINON cine lenses. This standard gear pitch enables compatibility with essential filmmaking accessories such as follow focus systems and lens motors
  • The lens control rings all use the same standard 0.8M gear pitch to be compatible with accessories such as follow focus systems and lens motors. Thanks to internal motors, all three can also be controlled remotely by dedicated dials on the “GFX ETERNA 55” without the use of any external motors for a compact and robust setup.
  • The focus ring features a wide 200-degree rotation angle, allowing precise focusing with smooth torque even in shallow depth-of-field scenes.

Powerful image stabilisation and fast, smooth, high-precision autofocus.

  • Achieves powerful image stabilization through improved shake sensing accuracy and optimized stabilization mechanism design. This is especially effective in shake-prone shooting situations such as documentaries and run-and-gun style filming that require high mobility.
  • Perfect for the run-and-gun shooters, the lens achieves powerful optical image stabilisation through improved shake sensing accuracy and an optimised design.
  • By directly driving the focus motors at high speed, the lens achieves excellent and accurate responsiveness for both manual and autofocus operation.
