Fujitsu Introduces Optimized Server Solution for VMware EVO: RAIL

News facts:
-  Fujitsu to ship VMware® EVO: RAIL™ hyper-converged ICT infrastructure
-  Provides enterprises with ICT Infrastructure at the Speed of Business, removing bottlenecks by simplifying infrastructure to meet accelerating business demands
-  Simple to obtain, deploy and ready-to-work in just a few minutes

At VMworld in San Francisco, Fujitsu tannounces its first hyper-converged infrastructure optimized for VMware EVO: RAIL. As a scale-out system designed to address the issues of ICT system bottlenecks, the new FUJITSU Integrated System Appliance for VMware EVO: RAIL offers rapid time-to-market and greater business flexibility.

Fujitsu is addressing the main frustrations that many business users have with internal ICT departments by providing a software-defined infrastructure services-based solution. The FUJITSU Integrated System Appliance for VMware EVO: RAIL arrives at the right time: Surveys consistently confirm that users complain of the slow implementation of additional computing and storage capacities in response to growing needs, coupled with functionality issues and higher-than-anticipated costs.

The FUJITSU Integrated System Appliance for VMware EVO: RAIL is Fujitsu’s first pure VMware integrated system: an easy-to-deploy, all-in-one data center infrastructure. Businesses that make the switch to integrated, scale-out software-defined solutions are able to explore new fast-track possiblities for easy capacity, rapid growth, while enjoying the flexibility and reduction in bottlenecks from moving to dedicated, self-contained systems.

Designed to run at higher ambient temperatures; optimized for compute density

The latest addition to Fujitsu’s fast-growing portfolio of business-enabling Integrated Systems is based on Fujitsu PRIMERGY CX400 rack servers optimized for VMware EVO: RAIL. In addition to industry-leading server performance, Fujitsu is also driving down energy costs by up to 27 percent thanks to its Cool-safe advanced thermal design technology. This will allow for the second generation of FUJITSU Integrated System Appliance for VMware EVO: RAIL  infrastructures – due later this year – to run at higher ambient temperatures, therefore reducing power costs for cooling.

Each FUJITSU Integrated System Appliance for VMware EVO: RAIL – which fits into a standard data center rack – is optimized for compute density and is capable of running either approximately 100 average-sized, general-purpose, data center virtual machines or around 250 average-sized machines for virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI).

Powerful Fujitsu x86 servers are already proven as the best choice for running fully-virtualized VMware environments, as confirmed by Fujitsu’s current lead position in 9 of the 13 VMmark benchmarks1. The FUJITSU Integrated System Appliance for VMware EVO: RAIL will offer even higher performance when the platform is upgraded later this year to offer the next-generation of Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 processors and DDR4 support.

In line with the approach of simplifying complexity in the data center, the new FUJITSU Integrated System Appliance for VMware EVO: RAIL is ordered as a standardized configuration. Organizations looking for additional capacity can simply scale out by adding more FUJITSU Integrated System Appliance for VMware EVO: RAIL units.

FUJITSU Integrated System Appliance for VMware EVO: RAIL is available to order with immediate effect and the first systems are already deployed by early adopter program customers.
