New in Furuvik 2017 – a boomerang coaster
A new rollercoaster will open in Furuvik in 2017. The ride, which will be called Fireball, is the first in the Nordic countries that runs forwards as well as backwards and is the largest single investment in Furuvik to date. Fireball will be the tallest and the fastest rollercoaster in the park.
Last spring Furuvik launched two new attractions, Små Grodorna and Gungan. This was the first step in a more extensive development of the amusement park. Another ride will be launched next season. Fireball is the name of Furuvik’s major new attraction for 2017 – a 23-metre high rollercoaster where passengers travel forwards and backwards at 60 kilometres an hour.
– We’re constantly working to push the boundaries of what can be experienced in our parks. This is why we’re particularly proud to introduce a new kind of ride. Fireball is the first rollercoaster of its kind in the Nordic countries and will be perfect for Furuvik, says Parks and Resorts’ majority-owner Johan Tidstrand.
Fireball, which will have a height limit of 95 cm, is a family boomerang rebound rollercoaster. The train runs the track forward and then runs it backwards again, thereby offering two completely different ride experiences. The rides design adds to the thrill – at two points high above the ground, the rails disappear into thin air. Fireball will be Furuvik’s tallest and fastest rollercoaster. (For comparison, Rocket is 14 metres tall). The investment totals at over SEK 30 million.
– Furuvik’s visitor numbers have been on the rise in recent years, which enables us to offer our visitors a really exciting new attraction. We are currently planning several investments, both long term and short term, in all areas of the park and look forward to the continued development of Furuvik, says Nina Tano, Furuvik’s CEO.
The theming of the ride and its surroundings will have an aesthetic derived from a turn of the century circus. The design of the ride will also contribute towards the ride experience in various ways. Furuvik’s biggest new attraction yet will be opened in spring 2017.
