Gant and the Kennedy Green House project

This season, gant home has been afforded the opportunity to decorate the Kennedy Green House outside New York. Of all the stories about this legendary family, the one about this new house project feels very appropriate for the times in which we live.

So when Mary Kennedy asked Annette Lundh, Head Designer at gant home, for help with decorating it, Annette didn’t have to think very long or hard. The main goal of the collaboration has been to heighten the character and personality of the house.

Mary Kennedy is very committed to the environment, and has used her home in Mount Kisco to demonstrate what future living might look like.

A few years ago, flooding devastated this 1920s house resulting in serious health-related problems. But thanks to Mary’s drive and determination, the house has gotten a new lease on life; a number of brand new, modern techniques has made it a model for how to build sustainable and healthy houses.

It is not only the interest in sustainable, modern living that unites Gant and Mary Richardson Kennedy. Both have their roots and hearts in the relaxed lifestyle of the American East Coast. An active life is second nature to Mary and her children, Conor, Kyra, Finn and Aidan, in their house built for play and recreation.

“These are genuine and positive people, with close ties and diverse interests that fit in very well with what we are doing,” explains Annette Lundh.
Mixing tradition and future, the old and the new, was very important in their rebuilt home. Technically advanced lighting and material solutions blend in seamlessly with the classical architecture, where many of the original details have been preserved.

The new textiles have been chosen in close cooperation and with great care to reinforce the general ambiance of the house: Stylish throws, cushions, towels and bed linen in soft tones with white accents give all the rooms an elegant, calm feel. All in all, this makes for a very beautiful and healthy house that generations of future Kennedys should be able to thrive in.
