As an artist and songwriter, Jonathan Hultén moves in the borderlands between darkness and beauty, which he embodies on stage through his unique expression and theatrical performances. With an enigmatic visual language, poetic lyrics, and a distinctive voice, he invites the audience on a journey through a dreamlike, mystical world that touches the soul. Now, in a unique concert where Jonathan meets Gavle Symphony Orchestra, the audience will be able to enjoy Jonathan’s beautiful music in a new dimension. Don’t miss this!
No one is left untouched by Jonathan Hultén’s music. Now Jonathan is finally coming to Gävle for a concert with the Gävle Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Karl-Johan Ankarblom. Jonathan is a multifaceted artist and songwriter, known for his evocative expression where darkness and beauty meet in a hopeful melancholy.
His debut solo album, Chants From Another Place (2020), showcased his introspective world, followed by the experimental visual album The Forest Sessions (2022), and Eyes of the Living Night (2025), an expansive work of transformation and wonder. Through both sound and vision, Hultén accompanies the listener on an inner wandering through haunting melancholy and emotional renewal.
As an illustrator, he also creates hand-drawn animations and imagery that deepen the emotional and thematic layers of his music. Through these artistic dimensions, Hultén builds his own sphere where sound, image, and poetry merge. His artistry is not only about performing music – it is an invitation to an inner wandering, where the listener encounters stillness, reflection, and a sense of renewal.
Karl-Johan Ankarblom
Conductor and arranger Karl-Johan Ankarblom has a diverse musical palette. He has worked with many of Sweden's orchestras and several of our greatest artists. In Gavle, he is well known to the audience for several cross-over concerts together with several great artists and Gavle Symphony Orchestra.
Gavle Symphony Orchestra
Gavle Symphony Orchestra's history is long and exciting, but it is the future that’s always in the orchestra's focus. Each concert poses a challenge to deliver the very best and live up to the audience's expectations of an artistic experience at the highest level. The orchestra has done this since it was founded in 1912. Among previous collaborations, the orchestra has appeared with, among others, Annika Norlin, Daniel Norgren, Amason, Ane Brun, The Tallest Man on Earth and Moonica Mac.
