Globe Award 2009: Outstanding sustainability reporting can be nominated for international award

STOCKHOLM, MARCH 30, 2009: On June 3 the Winter Garden at Grand Hotel in Stockholm will turn into a global hub for sustainable development. H.R.H. Swedish Crown Princess Victoria will be presenting the winners of the leading sustainability award - the Globe Award 2009. This year Globe Award has become more significant than ever as nominations from all around the world are accepted. The new jury, with the top names in sustainable development, ensures that the most innovative and visionary scientists, innovators, cities and businesses will be highlighted.

The goal of the Globe Award, this year presented for the third time, is to discover and encourage innovators, researchers, cities and companies that are prominent in sustainable development. Globe Award highlights and rewards good cases and initiatives. Globe Award has four categories: Sustainability Innovation Award, Sustainability Research Award, Sustainable City Award and the Sustainability Reporting Award.

Four jury groups, each with highly experienced and internationally recognized experts will assess the nominees. The jury is chaired by Lars-Olle Larsson, Partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers Sweden.

- It is necessary to support research and innovation to find solutions to the present problems related to climate change, poverty and welfare development. A Globe Award demonstrates pro-activity and best practice in the largest challenges we have ever faced, says Chairman of the Globe Award jury Lars-Olle Larsson.

Chairman of the jury group for the Sustainability Reporting Award is Paul Druckman, Chairman Executive Board of The Prince's Accounting for Sustainability Project, UK.

- The Globe Sustainability Reporting Award gives organisations the chance to really show how they connect their sustainability performance to their mainstream strategy. So often it is the separate CSR report that is judged for awards in isolation. However stakeholder interest, especially in this economic cycle, has changed to require links to corporate performance against targets across the business, says Paul Druckman, Chairman of the jury group for the Sustainability Reporting Award.

Companies can apply to be nominated for Globe Award. Information and application forms can be downloaded at www.globeaward.org. The nomination period closes April 26th, 2009. The Globe Award 2009 nominees will be made public May 5th.
