Visual experiences for the National Museum of Qatar

Goodbye Kansas has delivered films for the brand new National Museum of Qatar, a landmark building filled with visual experiences.

In April 2019, the brand new National Museum of Qatar opened its’ doors to the public. The building is designed by renowned architect Jean Nouvel and is arguably one of the most modern museums in the world. The building is inspired by the shape of a desert rose and is made up of interlocking discs giving it a unique appearance.

The interiors of the building are equally daring, with 11 large galleries presenting the history of the country. The focus of the exhibitions are visual experiences rather than objects, and in the first gallery visitors meet huge projections depicting the natural history of the region, including the Big Bang, the formation of the Arabian Peninsula and scenes from the pre-historic sea and rivers that today is dry land. Goodbye Kansas produced these films and they include a number of extinct animals, created by Goodbye Kansas artists in close collaboration with natural scientists.

The screens are almost 20 meters wide and the films were produced in 16K - an extreme high resolution - to create a breathtaking visual experience

“We worked for over two years on this project, in close collaboration with the Doha Film Institute and Jean Nouvel himself. The films are in a sense part of his architectural vision for the museum and a building like this one deserves something truly exceptional” says Nils Lagergren, Marketing Director at Goodbye Kansas.

“Visual experiences are what we do best at Goodbye Kansas, so this project was right up our alley. We’re also trailblazers by heart and the sheer size of the screens demanded a production that pushed the boundaries of what’s technically possible. And we’re naturally very proud of the result.says Annika Torell, CEO at Goodbye Kansas Studios.
