New festival! Gaga/people with Ohad Naharin, Ólafur Arnalds and oodles of dance

On 7-9 June a new festival will be held in Gothenburg: The Göteborg Opera Dance Festival. A few highlights: an open Gaga/people class and artist talk with Ohad Naharin, a concert with Icelandic star Ólafur Arnalds and acclaimed dance pieces performed by GöteborgsOperans Danskompani and Hofesh Shechter Company.

The Göteborg Opera Dance Festival is a three-day celebration of the art of dance, a place to meet brilliant performers and fellow dance fans. The Göteborg Opera's foyer will be the festival hub, with a special menu, opening party, DJ and hang-out, artist talks and a book release. Beside all the performances of course. Some highlights from the programme:

• The legendary choreographer Ohad Naharin honours the festival with two rare appearances: an open Gaga/people class and an artist talk.
• Icelandic composer Ólafur Arnalds has sold out venues like the Royal Albert Hall and has been awarded "Best Live Act" by BBC Radio 1. He is equally at home in dance music, classical music, and pop and his music appears in film soundtracks such as "The Hunger Games".
• Also: Hofesh Shechter's acclaimed piece Grand Finale performed by Hofesh Shechter Company; Sacre, Roy Assaf's interpretation of Stravinsky's Rite of Spring will for the first time be performed by both an all-male and an all-female cast on the same evening, with the Göteborg Opera Orchestra. Also on stage; Jo Strømgrens The Ministry for Unresolved Feelings.
