Midroc Automation acquires "PT Smartadeco Indonesia"

As of January 1, 2021, the company Smartadeco Indonesia is part of PT Midroc Automation.

PT Midroc Automation (PTMA) was founded in 2013, as a subsidiary of Midroc Automation AB, in connection with the Freeport project in Papua Indonesia, as a long-term strategy to ensure that Midroc as a company pays tax where we operate and to bring about a local establishment.

Freeport has since expressed a wish for a long-term partnership with Midroc and wants our commitment to continue until 2040.

Magnus Emanuelsson, head of the Mining Division at Midroc Automation AB, therefore views the acquisition of Smartadeco very positively.

- We believe that the expansion of the workforce in Indonesia will continue with the continued expansion of the project and this will also enable us to support Freeport in other areas where we are not yet active, he says. Such an investment also sends very positive signals to our employees about our long-term perspective and continued development in Indonesia. I also believe that it will help us become an even more attractive employer for new engineers.

To date, PTMA has 15 permanent Indonesian employees, 8 of whom are engineers. There is also 8 expats employed by PTMA. Freeport has expressed a desire for additional Indonesian engineers. 

Smartadeco offers a wide range of Control, SCADA and Industrial IoT solutions and services for water and energy management, operation and asset management as well as process and factory automation.

Smartadeco has implemented projects for various industries throughout Indonesia.
The major industrial segments are: Oil & gas, pharmaceutical, water, mining and power plants.

Smartadeco, with 24 employees, operates in the technology high-intensity university city of Bandung about 200 km southeast of Jakarta.
