Grönska partners with SAS to serve sustainable greens in the air

Grönska is thrilled to announce a new partnership with Scandinavia’s leading airline,SAS, to bring vertically farmed salads to the skies, starting January 2020. Together withSAS, Grönska has composed custom salad mixes with ingredients grown sustainably,using zero pesticides, and maximum flavour. This collaboration allows us to share ourtechnological innovations with a larger audience and make sustainable food availableacross the globe, even in the air.

Swedish innovation in the sky

Grönska is a Swedish tech company, developing vertical farming solutions for sustainable foodproduction. A driving force behind Grönska is the desire to make high quality, environmentallyfriendly food available to everyone and make a positive change in the food production industry.In this spirit, we are happy to contribute to SAS sustainability work and environmental goalsand make a broader impact.

To give you a taste, Grönska’s innovative vertical farming technology allows cultivation ofgreens, vegetables and berries using 95 percent less water than freeland farming and 42percent less energy per plant compared to greenhouses. In addition, our food productionsystems use zero pesticides and reduce food waste. The collaboration is part of SAScontinuous work for a more sustainable customer offering, with more renewable materials andseasonal and locally produced food.

What to look forward to

In conjunction with the unveiling of the new, fuel-efficient Airbus A350, SAS is introducingGrönska along with five other new suppliers in Copenhagen on December 9th.

Starting January 2020 Grönska will introduce the first of four salad mixes that will correspondto the spring, summer, fall and winter season. Because Grönska’s indoor farms areindependent of climate we have chosen to compose our mixes not based on seasonalavailability of ingredients but instead on tastes, textures and colors that will give customers anexciting culinary experience.
