HOYA Vision Care launches the new ‘Sensity Colours’ stylish, light adaptive lenses in time for summer 2025

The new spectacle lenses use the acclaimed Sensity technology with a grey photochromic layer providing enhanced UV protection and glare reduction

29 April 2025 – HOYA Vision Care has announced the launch of the latest addition to its well-established Sensity range – Sensity Colours, an extended collection of fashionable, smart light-adaptive spectacle lenses. The tinted lenses are the perfect complement to the upcoming summer, and a quintessential addition for trending eyewear enthusiasts looking for functional photochromic lenses that appeal to their personal style. These trend-conscious consumers who also value eye health can now enjoy the Sensity range in six different light-adaptive lens colour options. These colours offer wearers the chance to customize their look, offering a perfect blend of comfort, convenience, style, and protection, all within a coloured prescription spectacle lens.

Recent statistics show that 7 out of 10 people are sensitive to glare, with those between the ages of 18–44 suffering the most.1 The new Sensity Colours spectacle lenses address this with an additional grey photochromic layer that allows for comfort and superior protection against the sun’s glare – without compromising on style. The Sensity photochromic layer offers the wearer neutral, true-to-life visual experiences when outdoors, reaching sunglass darkness levels when activated by the sun, while also providing 100% protection against UV rays. By combining this technology with sleek and stylish tints, Sensity Colours is a unique solution in the fashion eyewear photochromic segment.

John Goltermann Lassen, CEO of HOYA Vision Care says: In line with our mission to provide sustainable vision correction and protection for all, we believe consumers shouldn’t be forced to make a choice between high-quality eyewear and personalized style. By combining functionality with aesthetics, Sensity Colours offer the best of both worlds, enabling wearers to express themselves to their fullest while feeling confident in the protection of their vision.”

The Sensity Colours range will be available for spectacle wearers of all ages and includes six vibrant color options that complement spring/summer 2025 trends, including pink, green, orange and blue in gradient tints as well as orange and yellow in solid tint options. The orange and yellow tints are designed to enhance contrast for outdoor activities, making them the perfect choice for fashion-conscious individuals and sports lovers seeking stylish and functional prescription eyeware.

To further elevate the aesthetics of Sensity Colours, HOYA Vision Care offers three optional HOYA coatings: Hi-Vision SUN Pro, Light Mirror Copper, and Light Mirror Blue. These coatings add either a neutral reflection for dark lenses with a high scratch resistance layer, or a mirror enhancement that provides an added layer of sophistication and enables consumers to express their personality in any light.

Silvano Larcher, Global Head of Category Management at HOYA Vision Care, says: “We are very excited to launch the Sensity Colours collection at this pivotal moment when the gap between fashion and protective eyewear is narrowing. Our spectacle lenses incorporate advanced photochromic technology, providing modular blue light control and protection against harmful UV rays that could contribute to long-term conditions like cataracts. This new collection offers a unique combination of vibrant, stylish lens options all while delivering essential eye care protection through UV protection and sun glare reduction”.

Sensity Colours will be rolled out globally across 30 markets with the lenses soon to be available in local stores. For more information visit sensitylenses.com and hoyavision.com. Please contact your local HOYA Vision Care representative for more information on market availability.
