Lukulumo donates the magic of reading to Ronald McDonald House in Finland
If a child falls seriously ill, Ronald McDonald House Charities Chapter in Finland helps families from everywhere in Finland to stay together during troubling times. The Ronald McDonald House in Vähä-Meilahti provides free family accommodation close to the hospital, so that families can visit their child whenever they want.
Lukulumo wants to support the important work done by Ronald McDonald House. We do it the best way we know how: offering the families the magic of reading. Families staying in Ronald McDonald house can now use the multilingual children’s book service during their stay.
“We hope that Lukulumo can give both comfort and joy to the families. In an unusual situation, reading and books can help you to find words for one’s feelings and what you’re going through,” says Alexandra Blomberg, sales and marketing director for Lukulumo.
“We are so happy and grateful for this opportunity! Many of the families staying with us stay here for a longer period of time. It’s great to be able to offer an activity for the whole family,” says Leena Lehtovaara from Ronald McDonald House in Finland.
Lukulumo is a digital picture book service that combines stories, illustrations and narration in one digital package. You can listen to the books in Lukulumo in Finnish while watching the pictures or, if you want to, you can read the book yourself. Some of the books are narrated in over 50 different languages, supporting the language development of multilingual children. Lukulumo has over 60 000 users in Finland and nearly 500 000 users worldwide.
