Press release -

TCR Europe final next up for Bäckman’s

This weekend (October 12th–13th) the final of the TCR Europe championship is held and the host is no less than the legendary Monza track in Italy. Andreas and Jessica Bäckman round off a tumultuous yet successful premiere season in the competition, as they now enter the final with their significant fighting spirit. Currently, Andreas is placed in a strong third place.

Racing siblings Andreas and Jessica Bäckman have made their premiere in the European series TCR Europe with the 2019 season, where they have reached several podium-finishes and learnt important lessons. Andreas and Jessica are currently placed in the third and 19th place of the championship, as they now prepare for their final. This weekend, October 12th-13th, a new track (for the siblings) awaits which the racing world has chosen to call "The Temple of Speed"; the Monza track in Italy.
– This track differs enormously from the other tracks in the calendar, with its consistently high speed and long straights. It will be a challenging weekend but it feels good and I look forward to enter the circuit with my sister. In addition, we have over 30 guests visiting to support us during the weekend, Andreas Bäckman says.

Monza premiere for the siblings
Autodromo Nazionale Monza is located just outside Monza in Italy and is often used for Formula 1, Formula 2 and most other major racing championships. The long, straight distances of the racetrack generate a very high average speed. Something that is believed to fit Jessica Bäckman, who’s looking for revenge from the latest Barcelona event.
– The design of the Monza track requires that all drivers will need to slipstream on the qualification to reach good results. We expect a tight race, but it will be incredibly fun to compete in Monza for the first time. I speak for both of us when I say that our excitement is beyond, Jessica says.
