The successful exhibition continues – Skrot på Junibacken (Junk at Junibacken)

Skrot-Nisse’s junkyard, Pelle’s wooden dragon, Farbror Fläskkorv’s sausage stall and many other scenes from Jan Lööf’s world of children’s books have been created in the new major exhibition at Junibacken, Skrot på Junibacken (Junk at Junibacken), which will remain open until the autumn of 2013. The aim of exhibitions at Junibacken is to inspire children to reading by allowing them to enter into the world of the books. Welcome to climb over, crawl through and play freely in all of the scenes!

Author and artist Jan Lööf published his first children’s book as early as 1966, and has since then become one of the most significant figures in Swedish children’s literature. His illustrations are packed with details that lead the reader to return to the books again and again, always discovering something new. Skrot på Junibacken has been created by scenographer Tor Svae, renowned for his fantastic play-based scenes, and the richness of detail in the illustrations has been recreated in the exhibition. Climb into Fabian’s jungle treehouse, swing through the air on creepers, enter the tummy of a giant ape, hide in the mysterious cellar from Pelle hjälper en riddare and creep through scary junk monsters from Pelles ficklampa. The exhibition includes a theatre performance every day, Sagan om det röda äpplet, based on the book with the same name. The performance is in Swedish but there’s much music, and children who do not understand Swedish are able to enjoy it.
