La mer, l’amour, la mort – Klara Ström’s MFA solo show at Galleri Konstfack
By presenting the ocean as a yonic symbol, the show takes on the ocean in relation to love and death. With its lips it both devours us and gives birth to us, like a mouth or a vulva. La mer, l’amour, la mort is both an arc and the ocean surrounding it. Giving in to death or floating on the surface. The ocean is fear of the unknown, but it is also freedom, openness, clean air and the promise of new discoveries.
La mer, l’amour, la mort presents the release of a poetry book side by side with a scenographic installation where sculptures and paintings acts as both coulisse and as characters in a voice oriented performance. A play with the flatness of a surface as something we need to penetrate. Each sculpture has a face, legs and feet, they all balance with their face turned towards the viewers, who are invited to sit down in the hammock among the sculptures and read from the book.
Opening: Friday 17 November, 4 to 8pm, performance at 7pm
Open: Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 November from 1 to 4pm, performance at 3pm
